{"id":7242,"date":"2019-07-02T17:40:08","date_gmt":"2019-07-02T09:40:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipm.my\/?p=7242"},"modified":"2025-07-16T15:25:39","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T07:25:39","slug":"govts-1m-affordable-houses-10-years-target-achievable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipm.my\/cn\/govts-1m-affordable-houses-10-years-target-achievable\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt&#8217;s 1m affordable houses in 10 years target achievable"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Source<em> from: New Straits Times, <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nst.com.my\/news\/nation\/2019\/07\/500960\/govts-1m-affordable-houses-10-years-target-achievable\">Original Article<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>PETALING JAYA: The government\u2019s aim to build one million units of affordable houses in 10 years is achievable.<\/p>\n<p>Real Estate and Housing Developers\u2019 Association Malaysia (REHDA) vice-president Datuk N K Tong however said the people should give the new government some time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne million (affordable) homes in 10 years is achievable if there is enough resolve and I think that this government has that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, I wouldn\u2019t expect the first 100,000 homes to be delivered within the first year, because from a practical point of view, the gestation period for the development can take up to four years,\u201d he told a press conference for the upcoming World Class Sustainable Cities (WCSC) 2019 conference here today.<\/p>\n<p>He said the government has been engaging with stakeholders, including developers, the house buyers&#8217; association and various government bodies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it is well coordinated, it will be achievable,\u201d said Tong.<\/p>\n<p>Themed \u201cNEXT: KL2040\u201d, the WCSC 2019 will explore how Kuala Lumpur and other cities can prepare for the challenges in becoming world-class livable and sustainable cities.<\/p>\n<p>The one-day international conference will be held on Sept 19 in Kuala Lumpur.
