Vietnam International Retail-Tech & Franchise Show (VIETRF) had been successfully organized at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) from 1^st to 3^rd November 2018. It is one of the largest annual franchising exhibition at Ho Chi Minh City. This time VIETRF gathered 150 franchise models and 50 companies in retailtech, from 14 countries including Vietnam, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Canada, India, Hong Kong – China, Phillippines, USA, Spain and France.

IPM proudly representing Malaysia to participate in VIETRF to introduce and promote IPM Franchise System at Vietnam market. The franchise business is a win-win situation for both IPM and franchisees; whereby franchisees receive assistance and guidance from IPM to develop their own Engineering Consultancy Practice (ECP) businesses, while IPM receives royalty as remuneration. IPM aim to be ASEAN’s largest professional consultancy firm in the building and construction industry, contributing to great civilisation in ASEAN region.

Liberalisasi adalah bermaksud tindakan kerajaan bagi mengurangkan kawalan dalam ekonomi, sosial atau polisi politik. Liberalisasi dalam sektor perkhidmatan dilaksanakan oleh kerajaan Malaysia sejak perlaksanaan Bajet Malaysia 2012 untuk memperkenalkan firma-firma domestik secara antarabangsa ke dalam pasaran asing, menawarkan teknologi, modal, dan kepakaran ke dalam firma tempatan, secara tidak langsung akan membentuk persaingan di akalangan firma-firma profesional di Malaysia.

Liberalisasi dalam firma-firma ‘Construction Professional Services’ (CPS) membenarkan lebih banyak peluang bagi syarikat-syarikat Malaysia untuk melebarkan sayap pasaran domestik dan memasuki pasaran serantau atai pasaran global. Selain itu, liberalisasi memberi peluang untuk meningkatkan tahap perkhidmatan kepada klien tempatan atau pelanggan-pelanggan dengan perkhidmatan yang berkualiti dan lebih banyak kos persaingan.

Teknologi-teknologi baru akan dibawa masuk ke dalam pasaran tempatan, sebagaimana juga kepakaran asing akan membantu kekurangan tenaga mahir di Malaysia bagi sesetangah bahagian projek pembinaan. Selain itu juga, firma-firma CPS tempatan akan memperoleh kelebihan liberalisasi, contohnya sokongan modal tanpa had antara negara dan peruntukan sumber yang berkesan dan kelebihan persaingan. Tambahan lagi, liberalisasi dapat mengurangkan risiko plotok bagi pelabur-pelabur dan dengan itu juga, stok pasaran bagi negara liberalisasi akan meningkat apabila tiada penghalang.

Walaubagaimanapun, perkembangan pasaran setelah liberalisasi telah memberi tekanan syarikat-syarikat CPS tempatan di Malaysia untuk menjadi lebih berdaya saing kerana syarikat tersebut harus menyesuaikan diri dengan persaingan pasaran terbuka dengan meningkatkan kecekapan, produktiviti dan daya saing mereka dengan pelbagai cara. Ini adakah bagi meningkatkan penyertaan syarikat-syarikat asing dan pada masa yang sama menggunapakai piawaian amalan global yang terbaik.

Liberalisasi juga boleh membawa halangan kepada firma-firma tempatan dengan memberi kesempatan kepada firma-firma CPS asing memasuki pasaran Malaysia untuk mendominasi dan seterusnya mengurangkan peluang firma tempatan untuk mengekalkan tempat mereka dalam industri ini. Di samping itu, dengan adanya peningkatan pasaran terbuka, tahap perkembangan PKS, masalah bekalan rentas sempadan, produktiviti dan kecekapan tenaga juga boleh mempengaruhi keuntungan organisasi perniagaan.

Kesimpulannya, disebabkan Malaysia sedang aktif menyertai liberalisasi dalam sektor perkhidmatan, firma-firma CPS tempatan perlu bersedia untuk menghadapi cabaran-cabaran dari kemasukan firma-firma CPS asing ke dalam pasaran pembinaan domestik. adalah sangat penting bagi memastikan adanya sokongan peraturan-peraturan domestik untuk memperkuatkan lagi kedudukan dan peranan dalam industri daripada memperlahankan perkembangan sektor perkhidmatan itu sendiri.

Liberalisation means the action of the government in lessening or deregulation the restriction such as in economy, social or political policy. Liberalisation of service sector was undertaken by the government of Malaysia since Malaysia Budget 2012 in order to internationalize the domestic firms into foreign market, offer technology, capital and expertise transfer to local firms, indirectly creates competition among professional service firms in Malaysia.

Liberalisation of Construction Professional Services (CPS) firms allows more opportunity for Malaysian companies to expand out of domestic market and entering the regional market or global market. Besides, liberalisation gives opportunity in a way to increase the level of service to local clients or customers with regards to its service quality and more competitive cost.

New technologies will be bring into local market, as well as transfer of foreign expertise to meet the shortage of skilled manpower in Malaysia for certain segments of construction projects. Moreover, local CPS firms could be benefited from economic liberalisation i.e. free flow of capital between nations and the efficient allocation of resources and competitive advantages. In addition, liberalisation may reduce the political risks for investors and this low level of risk is also part of the reason the stock market in the liberalised country will increase once the barriers are gone.

However, the evolving market after liberalisation pressured the local CPS firms in Malaysia to be more competitive as the firm has to adapt to an open market competition by building up their efficiency, productivity and competitiveness by all means to increase foreign participation while adopting the best global practice standards.

Liberalisation may also bring challenge to the local firms by providing opportunities to foreign CPS firms entering Malaysia to gain foreign domination which may reduce the opportunities for locals to hold key positions in the industry. In addition, increase to open market environment, incipient stage of development of SMEs, cross-border supply problems, productivity and efficiency may also affect the profitability of business organisations.

In overall to say, as Malaysia is actively participating in liberalisation of service sector, the local CPS firms must be prepared to face challenges from foreign CPS firms to tap onto the domestic construction market. It is also important to ensure the domestic regulations support rather than slow down the developments of service sectors, eventually lead to a strengthened position in the industry.

Franchise International Malaysia 2018 (FIM2018) had been successfully organized at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC) from 20^th to 22^th April 2018. It is the largest annual franchising exhibition and conference in Southeast Asia. FIM2018 assembled main players in the franchise sector from all around the world to discuss current franchise issues and focusing franchise as a key strategy in developing entrepreneurship in Malaysia especially in retail and service sectors.

IPM had participated as an exhibitor in FIM2018 to introduce and promote IPM Franchise System to Malaysia market as well as ASEAN market. IPM franchise business is meant to create lower entry barrier for young engineers to establish their own engineering consultancy firm with guidance of SOP and technical manuals. The franchise business offers systematic procedures, continuous training, quality control, and reduced start-up cost to franchisees. With that, IPM is able to extend its reach in Malaysia and serves more people while enlightening the young entrepreneurs.

IEM Infinity Charity Run was an event organised by IEM UTM Student Section on 24th March 2018 (Saturday). The objective of this event was to expose UTM students to the values of sharing and caring, at the same time to collect funds for the less fortunate and raise civic awareness among participants about the moral values of caring and giving. As the event sponsor, IPM was invited to participate in this meaningful event. After deduction of program expenses, the fund raised were donated transparently to needy orphanage homes in the form of food and beverages.

In conjunction of FRO Chennai 2017 on 16^th & 17^th December 2017, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNKK) and its agency, Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PNS) had taken initiative to organise an international trade mission to Chennai , along with eight parties of Malaysia Franchisors. IPM was one of the delegates who participated in the FRO 2017 and promoted IPM Franchise System at the international platform.

The objective of the international trade mission was to assist Malaysia Franchisors to introduce and promote their products or services to the India market. During the event, as the first engineering consultancy firm who obtained franchise license in Malaysia, IPM had greatly increased its exposure in the India market as an engineering consultancy service provider. Besides attracted more than hundred franchise enquiries, IPM also successfully connected with few parties of building and construction players in Chennai during the expo for further collaboration.

IPM was proudly invited to the Wakatobi Wonderful Festival and Expo 2017 (Wakatobi Wave), which took place in Wangi-Wangi District, Saturday (11/11/2017). This annual event was attended by the regents / mayor and the representatives of the King of Nusantara and some International Kings.

Agus Purwoto, Secretary Coordinating Ministry of Home Affairs who are the representative of Joko Widodo, President Republic of Indonesia, Duli Yang Dipertuan Agung D’Raja Nusantara Prof. Dr.Hc. Maharaja Srinala Pradita Alpiansyahrechza Fachlevie Wangsawarman. Ph.D. and a total of 46 raja-raja of D’Raja Nusantara who are the VIP were attended for the opening ceremony of Wakatobi Wave 2017, invited by Ketua DPRD Kabupaten Wakatobi.

There were more than 1,000 peoples of Wangi-Wangi had involved to the performance as traditional cultural wedding, dancing, martial art and more events for the celebration of Festival Wakatobi Wave. Apart from that, IPM is honoured to be invited to provide advice and consultancy services on tourism and township development for Wakatobi.
