Ir. Khairul Sulaiman is a professional mechanical engineer with over 35 years of hands-on experience in the power generation and oil & gas sectors in Malaysia. He graduated in 1991 from Western New England College, Springfield, Massachusetts, USA. His core expertise lies in the power generation sector, where he developed in-depth knowledge and practical skills in the operations and maintenance of Thermal and Combined Cycle Plants, particularly gas turbines, waste heat boilers, and steam turbines. His maintenance experience includes gas turbine overhauls and scheduled inspections for Tenaga Nasional Berhad and various Independent Power Producers (IPP), covering a range of makes and models. He also has strong interests in Vibration Analysis, Thermography, and Borescope Inspections.

Ir. Khairul joined Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Limited in 2009 where he was involved in Malaysia’s first deepwater oil and gas project, Gumusut Kakap and Malikai TLP projects. He is well-versed in Technical Standards philosophy such as design and engineering manuals, ASME, BS, ABS, DNV offshore standards and API for the oil and gas deepwater fabrication and construction projects. Ir. Khairul and his team were awarded the Shell Global Quality Recognition for their excellent performance and Best Practice in Shell for Flawless Project Delivery (FPD) and Equipment Preservation for the Malikai TLP project. Beyond his technical work, Ir. Khairul is actively engaged in mechanical engineering consultancy services, where his deep industry knowledge supports various high-value projects across Malaysia.

Ir. Khairul is a Senior Member of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) and serves as an Executive Committee Member of IEM Southern Branch in Johor Bahru. He is also an Industrial Advisory Panel Member of Mechanical Engineering Faculty for Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia from 2017 to 2018.
