IPM attended Session Town Hall about legalisation of illegal factories (pemutihan kilang tanpa kebenaran), organized by Selangor State Government and Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA).
This session gave exposure to the latest updates and statistics about legalisation of illegal factories for the past few years. There are more than 7,000 factories without permission in Selangor and only seven percent have been successfully legalised since the year 2006, which is less than 1,000. There are also factories that are still in the process of legalisation.
The engagement session was conducted to gather feedback and input from factory owners/ business owners before making policies for next year., so that appropriate assistance and support can be given to the owners to legalise their factories.
